Berkshire Health & Rehabilitation Center, a 180-bed healthcare center in Vinton, is seeking a full-time Nursing Secretary. The Nursing Secretary assists the nursing department and performs duties in accordance with the MFA Nursing Policy and Procedure Manual. Performs the administrative duties associated with the daily operations of the nursing unit.

Experience and/or Pre-requisites include:

• Minimum one-year clerical experience in office setting, including: filing, organizing, scheduling, and tracking.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Computer and typing/data entry skills.

Schedule M-F 11pm -7am

As the RN/LPN Night Supervisor, you’ll play a vital role in our ability to continuously provide Care Beyond Compare through your exceptional leadership and supervision of the nursing team. You'll be instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence, ensuring adherence to protocols and best practices, and empowering our nursing team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to every patient. What You'll Do

• Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff, ensuring high-quality care delivery.

• Oversee and coordinate resident care plans, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.

• Conduct regular assessments of residents' health status and update care plans as needed.

• Act as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support.

• Assist in training and orientation of new employees.

• Handle any emergencies or issues that arise during shifts, following established protocols.

What You'll Do

• Perform wound care as prescribed by Physician's Orders.

• Perform wound assessments.

• Conduct skin and wound assessments on new admissions.

• Supervise, coordinate, and direct the work of nursing assistants (CNAs). 

• Provide individualized nursing care to residents according to each resident’s plan of care.

• Explains procedures and treatments ordered to gain patients’ cooperation and allay apprehension.

• Observe vital signs to detect deviations from normal and gage progress of the patient.

• Maintains patients’ medical record on nursing observation and action taken, such as medications and treatments given, reactions, tests, intake, emission of liquids and solids, and vital signs.

• Records nursing needs of patient on care plan to assure continuity of care.

• Observes emotional stability of patients, expresses interest in their progress, and prepares them for continuing care after discharge.

• Perform other duties as required to provide exceptional care to each resident.

What You'll Do

• Provide individualized care to residents according to each resident’s plan of care.

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ALDs) including bathing, grooming, and dressing.

• Assist with mealtime activities, including feeding residents as needed.  

• Assist residents with mobility, including transferring and positioning them safely.

• Monitor residents’ health status and vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the nurse.

• Engage residents in social and recreational activities to promote overall well-being.

• Maintain safe, clean, and organized living environment for residents.

• Perform other duties as required to provide exceptional care to each resident.

• Active unencumbered certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Virginia.
